Use pine green and warm white as the foundation. Icy blue and butter yellow create variation. Use red sparingly, particularly through cardinal imagery.
DM Sans is the website typeface, with Arial as the fallback. Headlines are bold and concise. Bird imagery has accurate markings, tactile feather detail, minimal props, and consistent directional lighting. Clearly distinguish illustrations from photographs and observed behavior.
Build independent 4:5 covers using three formats: a close bird portrait, one bold fact headline, or a minimal habitat still life. Keep important text clear of the outer edges and make the subject dominant. Avoid puzzle grids, torn-paper effects, script labels, and crowded foliage.
Lead with a surprising finding, explain what it means, and give a useful observation or action. Cite the original study or established conservation guidance. Identify the species and study context. Scientific uncertainty belongs with the claim.
Write alt text for every image. Use no emojis and at most four relevant hashtags. Ask for saves or shares only when the content offers a reason.
The free field guide is the starting resource. Bird prints and a Mid-Atlantic Bird Haven Starter Kit are in development. Prices, release dates, and purchase links appear only when finalized.
